Good Questions To Ask At The End Of An Interview
You have successfully landed an interview at a company you eagerly want to join. But what kinds of questions do you ask at the end of an interview? Asking the right questions can help you secure that position for the company you want to work with.
First off, you want to start off by familiarizing yourself with the company prior to your interview. Check out their About page or Staff page to learn more about the company. This will be key to asking some good questions at the end of your interview. Make sure you know the business’s mission. This will be important and may even give you some insight into what their values are. Also, it would be good to know some recent activity or things the organization was just a part of. For example, if you were to interview with Sabio Systems, an employment agency, asking about some of their recent involvements like the surveys that show how Covid-19 has impacted New Mexico businesses and employees would be a great question to ask!
When thinking about good questions to ask your interviewer(s), it’s always important to think of things that matter to you and what you might want to know more about. This can be a variety of things. For example, at one interview I attended earlier this May, a company barely touched on their core values. I ended up asking if they could tell me a little more about what their company culture and what the ideal candidate would look like for that specific position. Then you just need to listen and see how you fit that description.
Questions To Ask
I have created a list of questions to ask that will help you better prepare for what you should be asking your interviewer throughout the interview.
- What is the company’s mission/values?
- What is the company culture like?
- Expanding on a recent event/involvement they were a part of
- What does the ideal candidate look like for that specific position?
- What are some key skills and/or traits they look for?
- Where do you see the company in the future (5 years)?
- Is it a team or independent environment?
- How has Covid-19 affected the business? How would you be able to help them resolve some of these issues?
- If Covid-19 comes into the workplace, will work move to tele-remote?
- Is there paid time off?
- Are there certain holidays that are expected to be worked on?
- What does the work schedule look like? (Mandatory to work on weekends, etc.)
- What does the benefits package look like? (Medical, retirement, etc.)
- Is there room for growth? A position to aspire to?
Ending The Interview
There are plenty of other questions that you can ask your interviewer, but these are ones I came up with and thought were important to know the answers to. The main takeaway from this should be to ask plenty of questions!
Often, at the end of the interview, the interviewer will ask if you have any questions for them. Make sure to ask questions! Your interviewer will appreciate that you are invested in the company by asking a variety of questions and it also shows that you are interested or have been listening throughout the duration of the interview.
